How we write these

Every guide is written from scratch by a person, not generated from a template. Each one is built around the same three questions: what is actually happening mathematically, what does that mean in practice for a real decision, and where do people most commonly get it wrong? Where a guide states a figure — a tax threshold, a lending guideline, a grading scale — we say plainly where that convention comes from and note that rules vary by country and institution.

We don't publish affiliate reviews, "best credit card" roundups, or sponsored recommendations. There is no product being sold here. The guides exist because a calculator that spits out a number without explaining it teaches you nothing, and financial decisions made without understanding are how people end up in trouble.
